I love/hate talking about my job/major. Typical...
Them: "So, what was your major?"
Me: "Music industry."
Them: "Oh, so you're gonna record bands, right?"
Me: "Uh, I could, but no."
Them: "Oh, so you're going to work a label instead."
Me: "Nope. Not doing that either."
Them: "So... what else is there?"
Me: *heavy facepalm* "I work for a company called OurStage, it's a music discovery website."
Them: "Oh, so you code websites then."
Me: "No, I don't do that either."
Them: "Then do you, like, do marketing?"
Me: "No, I do a bit of writing for their blog, I work with content management, I implement the gamification portion of the website, among other things."
Them: "I don't get it. What is OurStage?"
Me: "It's a music discovery website. Fans sign up to find, judge, and discover new music. Bands make profiles, use our awesome artist tools, and get new fans."
Them: "So, like, okay... [gives up]"
Me: "Don't worry, it's complicated."
